The latest prototype of the 2012 Acura NSX has finally hit the
"Big Time" with the release of the 2012
Acura NSX during this year's
Super Bowl. Although the design
of the original concept didn't get favorable reviews, it appears as though Acura has
discovered a totally new look for the production car.
Instead of going for an all-out sports car, Acura is aiming
for high-end super exotic instead. As a result, Acura has gone back
to the mid-engine. That said, the 2012 Acura NSX is expected to offer incredible supercar performance accross
every aspect. Credit the Acura NSX's formidable new power plant, a V6 with as much as
406 horsepower
and 350 pound-feet of torque, that could accelerate from 0 to 100 km
/ hr in under 5
seconds. Getting all this power to the ground will be a challenge in a mid-engine car,
so the new Acura NSX will employ a modified version of Honda's Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (Sport
Hybrid SH-AWD) system.
Packaging could be tight, however, with the big V10 in the middle.
Tires that are 255/35R19 in the front and 255/35R20 in the rear. A combination of steel
and aluminum will be used for the chassis that will form the basis for what looks like a relatively small car.
